Using vintage-looking beads, and a stone like Lapis Lazuli that has been in use for thousands of years is one way to make a necklace that has an instant feel of history. It's not hard to imagine some tribal leader wearing this, then trading it to a traveler for a a fine pair of horses or some exotic goods. Passing from collector to collector, gathering stories as it goes.

This is a basic bead stringing project with some simple wiring to make a bail for the bead to hang it, and a little embellishing as well.

• Coil a piece of wire into a decorative spiral, and hammer to add texture.
• Wire wrap a bead onto the spiral.
• Make your bail for the pendant. Bend the end of the wire into another decorative spiral
• Add the spiral to the bail.
• If you get stuck on the technique for the pendant - I got it directly from  Build Your Own Wire Pendants by Kimberly Sciaraffa Berlin, page 68. I highly recommend this book, as it has lots of great ideas in it.(I don't want to reproduce her instructions here in respect for her copyright.)
  

• String 1 lapis bead and 3 of the large seedbeads, repeating 10 times.
  
• For the 11th, only put 1 seedbead, then the pendant, then another seedbead, and then
  
• string 1 lapis, 3 seedbeads 10 times again, and end with a single lapis bead.
• crimp the bead stringing wire onto one of the jumprings with the clasp, then do the same for the other side.
  
• Bend one hook of the clasp slightly so that the jumpring can slip on and off easily.
